How we turned the pages of a book without touching it — a great afternoon for just 100 CZK
We visited the Vysočina Museum in Jihlava — a modern, interactive museum full of surprises. Talking mannequins, a giant bell, a digital book, augmented reality and admission for just a hundred crowns!
How we turned the pages of a book without touching it — a great afternoon for just 100 CZK. 📖👋
We visited the Vysočina Museum in Jihlava and I have to say, this museum is truly worth a visit! 👍🙂
If you’re expecting quiet corridors and glass cases, this is a slightly different experience. The whole museum is modern and there’s plenty you can try for yourself, which genuinely surprised and delighted me.
You’re welcomed, for instance, by talking mannequins. They tell the story of Jihlava’s history in a rather witty way — nothing like a dry lecture. There’s also a giant bell you can actually ring and listen to as it resonates through the room. ✨
The buildings that house the museum are beautiful in their own right. There are preserved old frescoes on the walls, vaulted ceilings and columns that create an amazing atmosphere — as you can see in my photos.

What got me a little spooked were the glowing footprints on the floor that appeared in one section — they have a slightly eerie feel to them. 👣🫣
Among the tech highlights, I loved the digital book where you turn pages just by moving your hand through the air. You can learn about the city’s history without ever touching a page. Or, thanks to augmented reality, you can come face to face with a mammoth. 🦣
They also have beautiful collections of porcelain and gemstones, as well as many other exhibits you could easily spend a lot of time with.
Historical exhibitions and collections
In the natural history section there are beautifully made taxidermy animals, and you can even try a bird-song quiz to see how many species you can identify by their calls. It’s a lovely, relaxing activity — give it a go and see how many you get right. 🐦

And for sports fans, there’s definitely a treat in the corner dedicated to HC Dukla Jihlava, where you can sit down and watch a video about the history of hockey in the city. 🏒
Overall, the museum genuinely pleasantly surprised me. It’s a place where you learn things in an enjoyable way and, above all, you just feel really good there. I’d say it was one of the nicest museums I’ve ever visited. 🙂
And do you know how much the admission costs? Just a hundred crowns — which seems like a fantastic deal for so many interesting things.
If you ever find yourself passing through Jihlava, definitely stop by. It’s worth it!
Let me know if you’ve already been there and what caught your eye. 🙂👇
