How do I find interesting places in a city I'm about to visit?
How I use artificial intelligence as a helper for finding interesting places in unfamiliar cities.
You may have noticed that in my recent posts from Prague, there were a few places you wouldn’t find in every guidebook. That’s because this year I’ve had an unusual helper with my planning. Its name is Gemini (artificial intelligence). 🧐🙂
It’s essentially a helper, advisor, and friend all in one — something every one of us now has on our phone, and it can help not just with travel tips, but with pretty much anything we’re dealing with at the moment. It has one small flaw though: it occasionally makes things up, so it’s always good to double-check. 📱
I used to spend hours poring over maps looking for, say, a café or an interesting spot in the city we were heading to. Now I go about it differently.
So how do I do it?
I simply chat with that “artificial intelligence” just like I’m talking to you. I write: “I’m looking for a quiet place for coffee in Prague that won’t be too expensive.” — and it just pours out suggestions! 🗺️☕
Thanks to it, I’ve already discovered many interesting places I didn’t even know existed. What I love is that Gemini doesn’t just tell me “where to go” — it also explains the context or history behind a place.
I treat it like a smart companion in my pocket. I take its advice, but the final choice and how I capture the beauty through my lens — that’s still up to me. It’s a wonderful helper when you’re looking for inspiration and don’t want to waste time. ⏳
Are you already familiar with these modern conveniences, or do you prefer to avoid them? I personally love using them. 🙂
And what would you ask an AI if it were planning your dream trip? Let me know in the comments. 👇🙂
